Poetry, writing,Blogging!

Today once again I am discussing a subject, which I might have discussed a few times earlier also. Yes, it’s regarding the writing and then blogging activity. Basically it is regarding expressing myself, be it through writing or speaking in any medium.

I remember listening to some orator who told that a person who has something worthwhile to say, does hesitate, if speaking before public he would initially face many problems, while any street vendor would cry without any hesitation, since he does not need approval from anybody, he just has to sell things!

Anyway, every individual expresses himself in his or her unique way. There are some who would keep speaking on every subject, even without any subject, but can’t remain calm. But let me tell you that speaking doesn’t always mean expressing something meaningful.

I am talking today regarding my journey in expressing myself. So, in my younger days in Delhi, I started working and writing poetry at the same time. While I went to Chandni Chowk and then to Jhandewalan for my initial services, where the monthly earning was Rs. 100 to 250 in total, during initial over 3-4 years of service with Pitambar Book Depot, then with Delhi Press, where Sarita, Caravan, Mukta etc. magazines are published and finally I joined Govt. service in Ministry of Industry, New Delhi, where I worked for 9 years.

So, while I went to these places from my residence in Shahdara, in east Delhi, on the way I often went to Delhi Public Library, opposite Delhi Junction, where budding poets and orators met weekly on Saturday and Monday evenings respectively. I was more regular in the poetry meetings, in which many famous poets had been coming during the years, before and after me. It was during 8-9 years of my attending these poetic symposia in Delhi that I wrote most of my poems. Actually, that was the time when the movement of Navgeet (Sonnet) was active in Hindi, and people wrote lyrics (Geet) with new format and content, I also contributed a little bit to that.

Anyhow in 1980 I left Delhi and with that the activity of poetry writing also slowly disappeared, accept for some time in Jaipur, then I lived in far away places of India, at project sites, cut off from all such activities.

However I slowly found a new and very effective way of expressing myself. I conducted cultural programs for the residents of our townships, where thousands of our company employees, many contract employees and their families lived. The programs included Kavi Sammelans and also programs by famous singers, which included Jagjit Singh Ji, Mahendra Kapur Ji, Nitin Mukesh Ji etc. etc. Such programs gave me a great opportunity to express myself.

Anyhow, after my retirement in 2010 there were no such connections, no scope of attending poetic symposia or being part of cultural activities. Slowly I came to learn that blogging is a great way to keep expressing my own views and creativity and being in touch with people who believe in expressing themselves in any field.

In this way I have been blogging for last 3-4 years and hope this activity would keep me engaged for longer than I hope.

• This is my humble submission on #IndiSpire prompt- When did you first realize that you can or must write? What was the subject of your first creative written work? #NewWriter

Thanks for reading.

Environment plays an important role to make the living beings healthy in the Earth. One of the kind, generous and intelligent living being is human being. Humanity’s entire life support system depends on the well-being of all the environment factors.

By the name of the award, I understand that it inspires to be an engine for spreading love, whatever we write, we can impress people by our creativity and may be knowledge also, but the basic thing that should always be there is that we  keep the flame of love burning in our heart and wherever possible,  should contribute for spreading love in our society, love for all human beings and not only humans but all living species.

I again thank my fellow blogger , who writes by the name साधक, his blog ID being https://vjsadhak.wordpress.com/.  Incidentally I do not know his name and he doesn’t know mine. For example while he very graciously nominated me and mentioned my name as ‘Samay’, perhaps by seeing my website name –www.samaysakshi.in . I may by the way tell that my name is Shri Krishna Sharma, for others also, since it is not mentioned in my blog posts.  I have also mentioned that he writes with the name साधक. I request all my fellow bloggers, who read this post and wish to take it forward, they may consider it a nomination of them from my side and I would be very happy if they take it forward.

I again thank my friend who nominated me and also thank in advance, anybody who would take it forward.
Thanks all.

Social media v/s Society!

Today once again I am talking about Social media. While thinking about social media, the first objection that rises in my mind is, how come it is called ‘Social’! Actually it is the thing that has destroyed all social connections in today’s world.

I remember the scene of Chaupals in villages, mostly we have seen them in films only, where people gathered and entertained each other with songs, jokes etc. A song from RK film ‘Ramaiya vatta vaiyaa’ comes to my mind suddenly.

Not only that, earlier wherever people met, in train journey, buses or on visiting some office, may be for an interview, before or along with the main activity, they interacted a lot. People were very much interested in knowing about the other person, from where he or she is, how about his family, city or village etc.

The scene of today is that there are several people sitting in a drawing room or say guest room of some office, waiting for their turn, everybody busy on mobile, talking or texting, actually talking also has very much reduced, people mostly text, they mostly write to people whom they have never met and may also not get a chance of meeting in future.

They get connected with people by sharing nice thoughts, quotes of great people or jokes etc. and feel how good that person is, such nice thoughts he or she shares. But in this process they remain so much busy on mobile screen that they do not find time, even to exchange smiles with people who are near them.
There are various facets of social media, making friends with people having similar interests or those working in same field, provided you have time to spend in discussions with them. Mostly friendships are such that people regularly write Good morning, Good evening etc. for that also some people develop nice stickers and all others use them.

I am involved in blogging activities for last 2 years or a little more, I find there a chance to express my feelings, my views on various subjects, people read them, I also read blog posts written by others and there is some interaction also. I feel that this activity is quite good, as long as you keep a safe distance from politics, because once you enter the arena of politics, you may come across some undesirable people also. However that is quite less in blogging activity.

There is a lot that can be said about social media addiction, I would only like to say that like some other activities, social media can be a good slave but not at all a good master. As long as you use social media wisely and keep this activity under your control it is a good, even if for time pass, but once you become addicted to it, you may lose your real dear people and may pick fights also with some people.

One must keep in mind that social media may be an extension of your social activity, as long as you are more social in real life and less in this virtual world, it is good. Once this virtual world over-shadows the real world, it might result in disasters some time.

This is all that came to my mind, while expressing my views on the #IndiSpire prompt- Is social media making people more unsocial? #SocialMedia

Thanks for reading.

What Is Success As A Blogger?

I remember a movie song from Hindi film- ‘Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai’ by Raj Kapur Ji. What all happens in that film is not, what I am discussing, just a song from that film comes to my mind, the hero wanders in streets, composes his songs and sings them for the people-

Mera naam Raju, gharaana anaam,
Behti hai Ganga jahaan mera dhaam,

Kaam naye nit geet banana,
Geet banaa ke jahaan ko sunaana,
Koi na mile to akele me, gaana …

The hero, a simple village person tells that he likes to write new songs and sing them for the people, he further says that if nobody listens, he sings for his own satisfaction. Further he says that this kingdom, the king and his family, nothing would remain forever but the songs of love would always remain.

Yes there are so many activities which people do for their satisfaction, to earn appreciation from others, to give some message to people and to display their talent etc.

To begin with I remember people, who sang ‘Alha Udal’ patriotic songs and some others sang Raginis etc. in village chaupal, or  who did some acts there to make people laugh, are also performers, artists. Further in our childhood we found many street performers, snake charmers, magicians, who made sound by their ‘Damru’ to make people gather in the street and then to please people and make them pay to the performer, they made some very nice performances. Rope walking also is a very old street performance.

As we move further there were circus shows, theatre shows, Raas Lila, Ram Lila etc., which while connecting us with our cultural heritage also provide a great chance for the artists to show their talent.

I would not go in much details here but writing poems, short stories, articles in papers etc. are also some ways of expressing ourselves and showcasing our talent.

There are some forms of art which needed some set up, infrastructure etc. like stage, a group of performers, directors etc. etc. Films are a great combination of all such departments and a great package in itself.

Anyway everybody does not have access to such facilities and platforms etc. Further publishing books etc. also was not an easy job. For those who write, in whatever field, after the spread of internet facilities, it is now easy to reach people with their creative pieces and to make their message reach and their talent be displayed before an unlimited audience worldwide. Blogging is such a great platform available to everybody today and yes we can expect anything from this be it name, fame or money, depends on our talent and how far we know the techniques of exploiting the possibilities in this limitless field.

I just want to wish that all bloggers get whatever best they can get from this activity by putting before people their best creative talent and efforts made in the field of research and in this way enrich the vast arena of internet publishing etc.

Success would have different meaning for different people depending on their talent, what they produce and what they look for.

This is my humble submission on the #IndiSpire prompt – What success meant for you as a blogger ? And why you want to be a successful blogger is you are doing this for fame and money ? Say Me Your Opinion #IAMABLOGGER

Thanks for reading.
