It is our life and we choose a role for ourselves and that determines what success means to us and it may be quite different from others. There are so many things which frame our personality, it starts with the ‘Samskaaras’ the values which we imbibe from our family and the atmosphere of initial neighborhood, relatives and schooling. Still there are so many other things which are instrumental in forming the unique personality of any person.

If we consider at the level of some failed country like Pakistan, there we find that young boys speak a language full of hatred towards India and Indians. Whether they can harm India or not is not an issue, my worry is how much they are harming themselves. Would such a young boy would become a good and successful human being, I have every doubt on that.

Today there are such organizations working at international level which train and send terrorists to various parts of the world to kill people for no reason. I feel worried about the future of the mankind after seeing these trends.

What is our role in this world, other than studying and being able to earn sufficient money to raise and maintain our families. We live in a human society, we are part of some country governed in a democratic or may be some other type of administration. Wherever we are, we need to play a positive role, make our humble contribution as a citizen, as a vigilant member of society.

So the basic requirement for every individual is to become a good human being and a contributing member of society. If people try to achieve their selfish goals at the cost of others, then there would be complete anarchy and people would keep fighting and everybody would be a loser. So to remain a vibrant and futuristic society and state, some basic values are to be adopted by everybody, every citizen or say every member of society.

All the scriptures, our religious books, reformers and even the text books our children read, all teach some basic values for becoming a good human being and a contributing member of society.

We need to develop a positive personality, adopt positive attitude to play a ‘win all’ game. So what could be the basic ingredients of a positive personality, positive attitude. We can mention say- we should always remain happy, for that we need to keep our hopes alive, which means one must be optimistic, one also must be kind and helpful to others, that also is a virtue which makes us help others and earn respect from other members of society. If all people help those, who need help, our society would grow very fast and all miseries would come to an end.

Helping or giving others, what they need, it could be material thing, it could also be attention, in whatever way we can contribute for other members of our society. Further it is not just that we do something for others, help them as a duty, basically we need to respect others, mutual respect is also a very strong binding force and makes any society a winning and progressive society.

I mentioned some kind of things which need to become a part of our attitude and it would project our personality as an individual. One could think which one of these values one should make a part of his personality. I would like to mention that these values need not be chosen to become a part of our attitude, but it is a complete package. If an individual carries high values, is optimistic, respects the institutions of society and state, that person would automatically make all these virtues  parts of his attitude and would make progress in life while making a positive contribution for the society also. Yes we also need to review our actions at regular intervals to see whether we have been positively contributing members of the society and not tried to achieve success at the cost of others.
